Ida, El Nuevo Jalón Evolutivo. Una Polémica Que No Cesa

Abstract

Tal cual se supo el pasado martes 19 de mayo de 2009, un aficionado a coleccionar fósiles descubrió por casualidad, en una zona volcánica cercana a Frankfurt (Messel), Alemania, las osamentas que guardó durante veinticinco años, desde 1983. Los restos, luego de ser subastados y finalmente adquiridos por la Universidad de Oslo (Noruega), se exhibibieron en el Museo de Historia Natural de Nueva York. La osamenta pertenece a un “mono/lémur” hembra1 de unos 47 millones de años, con cola, de unos cincuenta y tres centímetros de altura, de entre 650 y novecientos gramos, pero lo más importante puede ser la anatomía de su pie (cf. infra). Aunque los análisis recién comienzan, se sospecha que detenta ciertos rasgos similares a los que se aguardan encontrar en Primates al estilo de los simios y en los Primates Homo.
