Abstract

Globalización es una de las palabras que más se escuchan y se utilizan cotidianamente. Se trata de un término de carácter complejo, multifacético y polémico. Qué es la globalización y qué hay de nuevo en ella es objeto de un intenso debate. Pero podemos afirmar que cuando se habla de globalización, se hace referencia a un proceso de carácter fundamentalmente económico, no se encuentra limitado únicamente a esto último. Pone en juego también dimensiones de carácter político, social y cultural. Es un producto de la civilización occidental, pero no se trata en absoluto de un proceso homogéneo. Las denominaciones del fenómeno varían según el idioma: en francés, se utiliza mondialisation; en italiano, globalizzazione; en inglés, globalization; en alemán, Globalisierung.
