Análisis de los procesos de automatización en las bibliotecas públicas del Cantón Portoviejo

Abstract

El presente trabajo se realizó con el objetivo de analizar el proceso de automatización en las bibliotecas públicas del cantón Portoviejo, este estudio utilizó la metodología cuantitativa, apoyada en el método descriptivo. Se realizó un diseño que contempla dos etapas: en la primera se revisa el estado del arte para fundamentar con teorías el presente estudio. En la segunda se diseña y aplica una tabla de cotejo con criterios e indicadores para caracterizar los procesos de automatización y mediante una entrevista al personal analizar las actividades desarrolladas en las bibliotecas públicas del cantón Portoviejo. Entre los resultados se considera que el estado actual de automatización en las bibliotecas es favorable, utilizan el sistema integral de gestión bibliotecaria KOHA, existe un ambiente fluido y asertivo, y de esta forma el usuario puede satisfacer su necesidad de información y el bibliotecario brindar un servicio eficiente. Las conclusiones hacen énfasis en la necesidad de mejorar el módulo de recuperación de información y el acceso a un catálogo público en línea.
