La universidad cubana: algunos apuntes sobre su historia

Abstract

La Educación Superior en Cuba, desde sus orígenes, al fundarse en 1728 la Universidad de La Habana, ha transcurrido por diferentes etapas. Muchas han sido las transformaciones que desde esta fecha se han experimentado, pero es de nuestro interés con el presente trabajo reflejar algunas características que identifican cada etapa, haciendo mayor énfasis en la revolucionaria, iniciada en el año 1959 y extendida hasta la actualidad donde aparece el proceso de universalización. Se identifica éste como un proceso de transformaciones continuas, dirigido a ampliar las posibilidades y oportunidades de acceso a la universidad a todas aquellas personas con posibilidades y deseos de hacerlo, así como los retos y perspectivas que en la actualidad presenta. Finalmente se ilustra, con algunos ejemplos, la puesta en práctica de la universalización de la universidad en el municipio de Cruces en la provincia de Cienfuegos.
