Abstract

El presente trabajo aborda el estudio sobre la vida y obra de la artista valenciana Manuela Ballester en el periodo comprendido entre 1908 y 1939, año en que parte al exilio. Partícipe de la renovación de la plástica valenciana de los años treinta, Manuela Ballester supuso un ejemplo paradigmático de la generación de artistas e intelectuales progresistas que hicieron su aparición en el panorama cultural de esta convulsa década. Artista polifacética y profesional, desarrolló también una importante actividad literaria y política por medio de artículos e ilustraciones para las revistas Estudios, Orto, Nueva Cultura y Pasionaria principalmente, llevando a cabo al mismo tiempo una constante labor en defensa de los derechos y las reivindicaciones sociales de las mujeres.
