Historia, arte y sociedad en México: Pasado y presente de los templos de Santa Lucía Mártir y Santa Ana en Mérida, Yucatán

Abstract

El presente artículo expone el devenir histórico de dos templos de Mérida, Yucatán, México, así como su situación actual como monumentos artísticos e históricos. El primero de ellos es el templo de Santa Lucía Mártir que fue edificado durante las últimas décadas del siglo XVI. El segundo es el templo parroquial de Santa Ana que se construyó en 1730. Ambos inmuebles fueron transformados durante el auge económico del Porfiriato y sufrieron los daños de la persecución religiosa de la primera mitad del siglo XX. Actualmente siguen abiertos al culto y albergan importantes obras de arte conservando al mismo tiempo el patrimonio cultural material e inmaterial.
