La imagen digital. El valor de lo intangible

Abstract

La imagen digital, ya sea estática o en movimiento, es probablemente la práctica postaurática del patrimonio intangible mejor documentada. La imagen es información, contenido, que se almacena y/o transmite en un soporte y requiere de una máquina de reproducción para su manifestación. Todo el conjunto (información, soporte, medio) conforman el medio. El medio no es 'transparente', aporta información. La migración, estrategia de conservación que consiste en actualizar periódicamente el formato de un medio antiguo a uno actual, es la práctica más extendida para su salvaguarda. Sin embargo, la imagen digital está inmersa en las inagotables discusiones éticas acerca de la conservación-restauración del arte contemporáneo, especialmente complejas por su inmaterialidad, las tensiones que se producen entre la ley de la propiedad intelectual y la de patrimonio, la diversidad de los casos de estudio y su inevitable complejidad técnica.
