La escultura funeraria en la iglesia de Santa Saría de Beade (Ourense) como ejemplo de la dualidad Expolio vs. Conservación de los bienes eclesiásticos

Abstract

La iglesia de Sta. María de Beade (Ourense) supone una interesante muestra de la dualidad en la gestión del patrimonio eclesiástico a partir del ejemplo de sus monumentos funerarios tardomedievales, debatiéndose entre el expolio y el abandono del mismo y la conservación de éste, partiendo de la base de la utilidad de estos bienes materiales como necesarios para la Iglesia para cumplir sus funciones pero teniendo en cuenta que por su extraordinario valor, este patrimonio ha trascendido para estar al servicio de la sociedad, pudiendo además ser una fuente de riqueza con unas adecuadas políticas culturales y por tanto debiendo las administraciones públicas contribuir a su adecuada conservación.
