El mercado artístico como herramienta de estudio para el historiador del arte. Una aproximación

Abstract

El mercado del arte es un ámbito fundamental en el desarrollo del hecho artístico. Hasta hace bien poco no se consideraba importante la investigación en este marco, pero es imprescindible para completar nuestro conocimiento de la historia del arte, ya que nos indica los factores por los cuales una tendencia artística se impone sobre otras, la evolución de elementos y artistas, los cambios en el gusto y en la mentalidad de cada momento, etc. Con este artículo tratamos de presentar una serie de cuestiones y reflexiones que debemos tener en cuenta al enfrentarnos al concepto de mercado del arte, además de poner de relieve la importancia que la historiografía del arte dedique parte de sus esfuerzos a investigar los entresijos del mercado artístico actual para poder realizar análisis de utilidad con el fin de actuar en este campo, además de comprender mejor la historia del arte mediante el estudio del contexto del intercambio del objeto artístico en distintos periodos. Para estas cuestiones es fundamental la intervención del historiador del arte.
