Abstract

Ependymomas are rare tumors of the central nervous system that arise from the neuroepithelial lining of the cerebral ventricles or the ependymal canal. Extraventricular localization is rare. Here, we present the case of an 11-year-old patient admitted to the neurosurgery department because of partial functional impairment of the left side of the body and visual disturbances. Imaging revealed a voluminous, partially fleshy, predominantly cystic brain lesion. The young patient underwent surgery, and the pathological examination was consistent with a grade III ependymoma.
