Abstract

Neck pain (NP), a globally prevalent musculoskeletal disorder, poses significant health challenges, particularly among office workers in Bangladesh, where diverse work styles, activities, and living conditions exacerbate vulnerability. This study investigates the prevalence of NP and identifies associated risk factors among private sector employees through a nationwide cross-sectional survey of 7,919 participants (99.3% response rate). Data on socio-economic, occupational, and health-related factors, including NP history, were collected via structured questionnaires and analyzed using logistic regression models. Key findings revealed strong associations between NP and prior neck discomfort (AOR: 11.380, 95% CI: 9.820–13.230), physical inactivity (AOR: 1.478, 95% CI: 1.370–1.595), and age above 41 years (AOR: 4.435, 95% CI: 3.680–5.410). These results underscore the urgent need for ergonomic interventions and health promotion strategies to address this occupational health issue. By elucidating the multifaceted drivers of NP, this study lays the groundwork for future research and policy initiatives aimed at fostering healthier work environments in Bangladesh.
