Abstract

Printmaking is a creative branch of visual arts. It plays a significant role for the development of human philosophy and aesthetic worth, where printmaking originated in response to human requirements in prehistoric times. This research explores the concept of sustainable waste management in printmaking, specifically addressing the disposal and recycling of printmaking wastage. Printmaking methods, such as etching, lithography, and relief printmaking, often involve the produce of non-useable materials that needs necessitate careful handling and disposal. This wastage also causes the space blockage, so it is important to recycle and to turn those into other artifacts, through transforming wastage into decorative art or some necessary useable artistic elements. This research investigates current waste management practices in the printmaking methods in the universities and art studios of Bangladesh where printmaking is being practiced and discusses innovative strategies to reduce the environmental impact and contribute to create positive vibe to this country’s artistic identity.
