Hijos en hogares monoparentales: efectos intergeneracionales sobre la separación en México

Abstract

Utilizando información de la Encuesta Demográfica Retrospectiva del INEGI, este trabajo investiga si los hijos que crecieron en hogares no biparentales tienen una mayor probabilidad de experimentar, de adultos, un divorcio o separación. Se encuentra que, independientemente de estar casados o unidos, el riesgo de separación es mayor para quienes crecieron en un hogar monoparental y para las generaciones más jóvenes. También la duración de la ausencia de los padres y el número de cambios en el tipo de hogar son factores de riesgo. Estos resultados sugieren que, dado su carácter intergeneracional, acciones tomadas hoy para reducir la desintegración familiar tendrán también efectos en las próximas generaciones.
