The Utilization of Percentage Swaps in the Enterprise

Abstract

The increase of financial risk which can be observed in the recent years should induce enterprises to seek effective methods and instruments allowing to limit its negative influence on the financial results. The aim of the article is to present the benefits which the enterprises can obtain utilizing swap transactions. The first part of the article presents the premises of the rise of the market of derivative instruments for the interest rates. There is shown the market structure of these instruments and the role played on this market by swap transactions. In the second part there is carried out a characteristic of the swap transactions occurring on the Polish financial market. The third part describes in what way this type of transactions can lead to a decrease of the costs of financing the activity of the enterprise and through this to increasing the value of net money flows in the enterprise.
