Abstract

O setor financeiro tem sido visto tradicionalmente como fornecendo o “petróleo” para as “rodas do comércio” ou como um parasita no setor real da economia, onde ganhos reais de produtividade proporcionam aumento dos salários reais e da renda per capita. O presente artigo segue um caminho diferente e tenta analisar as instituições financeiras em pé de igualdade com o setor produtivo da economia. Também desenvolve um vínculo que une a perspectiva "baseada no conhecimento" nas operações das empresas com a alavancagem financeira schumpeteriana para explorar inovações que aumentam a produtividade e a tendência de Minsky à fragilidade financeira. A análise também leva a algumas recomendações de políticas relacionadas à regulamentação financeira, gerenciamento de riscos e criação de instituições financeiras.
