Abstract

A Wikipédia, enciclopédia on-line desenvolvida por Jimmy Wales, figura hoje como um dos mais notáveis fenômenos da Internet. Baseada no princípio da livre inserção de verbetes por qualquer internauta, ultrapassou, em quantidade, as mais tradicionais enciclopédias já criadas. Apesar disso, o artigo mostra que a Wikipédia está às voltas com dificuldades, sinalizando que o modelo que lhe deu origem precisa evoluir para sustentar sua expansão.
