Abstract

A história da Varig mostra uma sucessiva série de erros e desacertos de gestão. O modelo de negócio da empresa, que há algumas décadas era referência nacional no setor e uma das maiores do mundo, foi construído em torno de uma única competência, o relacionamento com o governo. Dependente, a empresa não conseguiu reagir à desregulamentação do setor, à entrada e ao crescimento de concorrentes externos e internos, e à disputa por preços e custos. O resultado, como se sabe, foi a derrocada.
