Abstract

A velhice não é apenas um fenômeno biológico e psicológico. Depende do modo como cada cultura e sociedade concebem o que é ser jovem e velho, bem como a intensidade do valor atribuído a cada uma dessas etapas da vida. Particularmente hoje, com a aceleração do tempo e a apologia da boa forma e da performance, a velhice é repetidas vezes negada. O artigo destaca que ser velho é um destino, e que, na passagem do tempo, é a condição humana que prevalece.
