Abstract

Nos últimos anos, assistimos a um vigoroso debate sobre os efeitos gerados pelas privatizações de grandes empresas estatais, sobretudo nas áreas de energia elétrica e de telefonia. As opiniões dividem-se: alguns advogam que as privatizações pioraram o desempenho das empresas, outros crêem que as melhorias foram notáveis. Desde 1991, 66 empresas estatais brasileiras foram privatizadas. Este estudo mostra o impacto do processo sobre seusprincipais indicadores econômico-financeiros.
