“I can’t breathe”: Uma análise do fluxo da hashtag #BlackLivesMatter no Twitter brasileiro e norteamericano

Abstract

O objetivo deste artigo é investigar a atuação do Movimento Black Lives Matter (BLM) no Twitter durante os protestos motivados pelo assassinato de George Floyd em maio de 2020. Procuraremos analisar o transbordamento territorial da ação coletiva por meio da ação conectiva, comparando os casos brasileiro e norte-americano. Para efetuar essa comparação, utilizamos os métodos do fluxo de ranqueamento e rede de palavras, observando como a hashtag #BlackLivesMatter foi utilizada no X (antigo Twitter) brasileiro e norte-americano, e buscamos examinar se as estratégias de atuação nos dois países durante o período da pandemia se aproximam discursivamente ou não. Os resultados apontam que a ação coletiva atravessada pelas mídias sociais rompe fronteiras e, dessa forma, aumenta o engajamento e a mobilização internacional em determinadas causas sociais, apresentando, no entanto, características diferentes em cada país.
