Abstract

Este estudo objetiva verificar o impacto de fatores fiscais e socioeconômicos nas taxas de homicídio e analisar se essa influência é diferente em estados com boa gestão fiscal. Para isso, o Indicador de Gestão Fiscal Estadual (IGFE) foi fundamentado na metodologia do Índice Firjan de Gestão Fiscal (IFGF) para diferenciar estados com boa saúde financeira daqueles cujas contas estão em situação crítica. Ainda, foi realizada uma regressão linear múltipla em dados em painel, pelos métodos de efeitos fixos e aleatórios. Essa pesquisa encontrou evidências de que fatores socioeconômicos afetam as taxas de homicídio dos estados. Além disso, verificou-se que, em média, fatores fiscais, como as transferências voluntárias e os gastos municipais com segurança pública, são negativamente relacionados com as taxas estaduais de homicídios.
