Evaluación del bienestar de los hogares en el consumo de alimentos: Una aplicación del algoritmo de Vartia

Abstract

Este documento se enfoca en la evaluación del bienestar aplicado al sector de alimentos, el cual se constituye en un factor relevante para los hogares bolivianos. En 2022, Bolivia experimentó una inflación estable a pesar de una aceleración generalizada de los precios a nivel mundial, afectando el salario real, poder adquisitivo y las cestas de consumo de los los hogares. El estudio cuantificó el cambio en el bienestar económico a partir del gasto que realizan los hogares en alimentos, considerando cambios en los precios. Se aplicó el algoritmo de Vartia para calcular la Variación Equivalente de la Renta (VER) y la Variación Compensatoria (VCR). Los resultados de la VER y VCR fueron 1,19\% y 1,64\%, respectivamente. Además, se realizaron estimaciones según deciles de ingreso, departamento y actividad económica. Este estudio contribuye a la toma de decisiones de políticas económicas y sociales, en particular en la fijación del salario mínimo, al proporcionar información sobre incrementos necesarios ante alzas en los precios de alimentos.
