El efecto de la Política Salarial sobre la Distribución de los Ingresos Laborales y la Pobreza en Bolivia

Abstract

En Bolivia, en los últimos años, la política salarial se ha caracterizado por establecer incrementos sostenidos en el salario mínimo. La teoría y evidencia empírica señalan diversos efectos positivos y negativos por la implementación de este tipo de políticas. El presente documento analiza el efecto de los incrementos en el salario mínimo nacional sobre la distribución general de los salarios y sobre la pobreza en Bolivia. Para ello se estructura una base de datos de pseudo panel con información de la encuesta de hogares existente en el periodo 2005-2013. Los resultados indican un efecto positivo de los incrementos en el salario mínimo sobre toda la distribución de salarios y en la disminución de la pobreza, tanto si se considera el sector formal e informal.
