Training to use patents

Abstract

An account of a project sponsored by the C.E.C., D.G.XIII, to prepare instructional packages which can be used as a basis for courses, workshops, 'one-off' lectures or simply publicity for patents. The packages are intended for people concerned with the training of young entrants to industry of commerce, that is young engineers, scientists, technologists and junior managers. They are not intended for the training of information or patent specialists. A range of packages is available explaining how patents have developed, how to find patent documents and how to read and understand them. They can be used singly or in combination and consist of 3 videotapes, 4 tape/slide programmes, an online teaching unit for a PET computer, an illustrated one-hour lecture with script and slides, a students' handbook, an instructor's handbook and several posters.
