Patent information to stimulate innovation in small and medium sized companies

Abstract

One of OLPI's tasks is to arouse companies' awareness of patent information and the purpose of the Chamber of Commerce in Hamburg is to support enterprises, especially small and medium sized firms, in implementing innovations and doing this using patent information. A summary of activities is given and the increasing significance of patents for industry is pointed out. A report on the experience gained as a user of patent information in connection with supplying a service for small and medium sized firms is presented.
