Consulting the EPO systematically classified documentation of the future: Paper or computer?

Abstract

To prevent the continual growth of the volume of documentation at the EPO, two possible solutions are considered: 1. 1. Keep the last 20 years of documents in paper form, the remainder being available from a computer database.2. 2. Keep the most frequently consulted search files in paper form and make the remainder accessible from a computer database. The consequences in respect of reduction of paper documentation and numbers of diskettes needed for the electronic part of the file are discussed and the advantages and disadvantages of each solution assessed.
