A SMAA-based framework for robustness analysis in multi-criteria facility location under uncertainty

Abstract

Logistics hub selection is a multi-criteria decision problem characterized by conflicting objectives, uncertain data, and diverse stakeholder perspectives. This study addresses the Multi-Criteria Facility Location Problem under uncertainty faced by a multi-stakeholder association of courier companies in Chile. We propose a robustness analysis framework that applies three SMAA methods independently under equivalent conditions (SMAA-2 for utility-based rationality, SMAA-P for outranking rationality, and SMAA-T for behavioral rationality), using the convergence of their resulting rankings as an indicator of solution stability across distinct decision rationalities. We introduce a robustness taxonomy and three action-oriented decision sets that translate convergence patterns into practical guidance for stakeholders.
