From algorithms to access: Role of artificial intelligence in revolutionizing financial inclusion

Abstract

Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing financial inclusion by dismantling traditional barriers and bridging gaps in access to financial services. It empowers underserved populations through advanced algorithms and innovative solutions, transforming the global financial landscape. This research probes the asymmetric impact of artificial intelligence on financial inclusion in the top ten financially inclusive nations (Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Germany, the UK, and France). By applying bivariate Quantile-on-Quantile estimation separately for each country rather than using a panel approach, the study preserves country-specific nuances and captures asymmetric relationships within each nation. This design enhances accuracy and provides insights tailored to the distinct characteristics of each economy. The findings reveal a significant positive association between artificial intelligence and financial inclusion across several quantiles in most sample countries, with each demonstrating distinctive behaviors and patterns. These results underscore the need for policymakers to conduct thorough assessments and develop effective strategies to manage the evolving dynamics of variables. This approach will enable data-driven policy decisions tailored to the specific needs of each nation.
