Abstract

Since Klefsjö (1983) defined and investigated the -class of life distributions, this class has attracted a great deal of attention. In this paper, we first clarify the existing characterizations of the -class. Then we apply these results to estimate the moments of distributions in and to characterize the exponential distribution.
