Statistical inference about the shape parameter of the Weibull distribution

Abstract

This article discusses exact confidence intervals and exact statistical tests about the shape parameter of a Weibull distribution. There are some existing approaches for obtaining exact confidence intervals of the shape parameter based on BLUEs, BLIEs or MLEs of the parameters. A conditional technique was proposed by Lawless. The new method proposed in this paper uses less tables than the methods using BLUEs or BLIEs. The calculation for the critical values of statistical tests is simpler than the method using MLEs and the conditional method.
