The impact of banking fintech on the efficiency of green investment in real economy enterprises

Abstract

As the main force in the modern financial system, the banking industry plays a vital role in facilitating the green transformation of companies and promoting their sustainable development through the application of fintech innovations, so as to promote the sustainable development of companies through the application of financial technology innovations. According to the data from commercial banks and Chinese A-shares listed companies from 2012 to 2022, it uses theoretical analysis and a two-way fixed effect model to systematically analyze the impact and mechanism of banking fintech on the green investment efficiency of enterprises. It finds that banking fintech can significantly improve the efficiency of corporate green investment, and this result is still valid after conducting various robustness tests and endogenous treatments. Banking fintech can help make the corporate green investment more efficient by cutting off the financing problems and agency problems during the development of green. Banking fintech is more pronounced in improving the efficiency of green investment for non-state-owned, small-scale, low information transparency, and high financial risk enterprises.
