Abstract

Coastal zones increasingly face conflicts as societal demands, economic development, including tourism, and nature conservation compete for limited coastal space. Although lagoon coasts are ecologically valuable and morphologically stable, these remain especially vulnerable to incremental, tourism-driven land-use changes. Fragmented spatial monitoring allows many of these small-scale alterations to escape detection, undermining enforcement and the implementation of coastal plans.
