Harnessing ChatGPT’s potential: A comprehensive guide for professors

Abstract

This paper aims to examine how ChatGPT can be a valuable resource for professors in accounting education. We demonstrate how ChatGPT can assist accounting professors with various aspects of their job duties to enhance their teaching methodologies, promote interactive learning, and prepare students for a rapidly changing professional environment. With the ongoing advancement of technology, we as academics can choose to embrace these changes or fight their inevitable existence. While there are many differing opinions on artificial intelligence (AI) in academia, we illustrate how to embrace ChatGPT in the academic environment. In addition to outlining best practices, this paper provides educators with a comprehensive, discipline-specific resource that includes practical examples tailored to the accounting curriculum.
