A Pause in the Growth of Nuclear Energy

Abstract

The nuclear accident in Japan in the aftermath of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami has revived the debate on the future of nuclear energy worldwide. Germany became one of the first major economies to announce the complete abandonment of nuclear energy. What are the repercussions of this development on the power generation sector in Germany and, more broadly, on the world nuclear industry?
