Can chain leader green transformation drive supply chain member green innovation?

Abstract

This study utilizes data from Chinese A-share listed enterprises spanning 2009 to 2024 to empirically investigate how the green transformation of chain leaders within supply chains promotes green innovation of members. The results show that chain leaders' green transformation positively influences the green innovation of chain members. This influence operates primarily through green technology spillover, with its strength increasing as inter-firm interaction intensify. Additionally, the impact proves more pronounced for state-owned enterprises and upstream suppliers. These findings provide theoretical support and practical direction for enhancing corporate green innovation and advancing sustainability within supply chains.
