Abstract

Based on urban panel data from 2013 to 2023, this paper examines the impact of the pilot policy for commercial pension insurance on household savings and consumption in China's aging society. Empirical results show that the pilot policy for commercial pension insurance has a significant positive effect on household savings; the aging of society plays a moderating role in this relationship. The policy also has a significant negative effect on household consumption, with aging likewise moderating its impact. This study provides theoretical support and policy recommendations for optimizing the pension insurance system and promoting sustainable economic development.
