Abstract

Digital government development has revitalized economic and social activity and provided important support for companies in accessing key market resources. This study uses data on Chinese A-share listed companies from 2010 to 2023. This study uses the “Internet +” government services pilot policy as a quasi-natural experiment and employs a difference-in-differences model to examine how digital government development affects companies' trade credit supply, revealing significant increases in companies' trade credit supply. The results show that digital government development significantly increases companies' trade credit supply. Companies' financing constraints, total factor productivity and the level of digital transformation can moderate the relationship between digital government development and trade credit supply. This study expands the theoretical understanding of how institutional environments shape companies' financial behavior, providing empirical evidence to help policymakers strengthen markets by optimizing financing conditions through digital government reforms.
