Abstract

Using panel data from Chinese listed manufacturing firms spanning 2013–2023, this paper employs econometric methods including two-way fixed effects models, quantile regression, and instrumental variable approaches to systematically investigate the intrinsic relationship among skill premium, supply chain finance (SCF), and wage rigidity in manufacturing firms.. The empirical results reveal that SCF significantly enhances wage rigidity, which varies. Heterogeneity is evident in the effect of SCF on firms with high and low proportions of independent directors, and the skill premium has a moderating influence on the relationship between SCF and wage rigidity. The findings enrich theoretical research in manufacturing wage rigidity and SCF and provide policy insights for human resource management and corporate governance practices.
