Abstract

This paper explores the relationship between financial embedding, commodity consumption laws, and new forms of the digital economy based on panel data from Chinese enterprises and provinces from 2014 to 2023. The results indicate that financial embedding has a positive impact on new forms of the digital economy; commodity consumption laws similarly exert a positive influence on new forms of the digital economy; commodity consumption laws moderate the relationship between financial embedding and new forms of the digital economy; this moderating effect exhibits heterogeneity across regions with different levels of economic development, with the effect being more pronounced in regions with higher economic development and relatively weaker in those with lower economic development.
