Can executives with IT background facilitate corporate supply chain finance? Evidence from China

Abstract

Drawing on data from Chinese A-share listed companies, this study finds that executives with an information technology (IT) background significantly facilitate the development of corporate supply chain finance. This positive effect is primarily driven by the acceleration of digital transformation and the mitigation of information asymmetry. Moreover, this effect is more pronounced among those firms facing severe financing constraints and those located in financially underdeveloped regions. Our results provide empirical support for corporations to optimize their management composition and advance supply chain finance practices in the digital economy era.
