Competition law in the European community: Playing the game by the rules

Abstract

Noel Byrne explains that the rules of competition law of the European Community should be taken very seriously. Anti-competitive contracts can be held as unenforceable, fines are heavy and wrongdoers liable to be sued. However, the innocent transgressor may be forgiven, and intelligent executives can even use the rules to their own advantage in negotiating contracts. It pays to assess contracts carefully.
