Abstract

The article begins with some theoretical considerations, focusing on a new, two-dimensional classification of benchmarking types. Then the authors describe the current state and practices of benchmarking in Hungary, and explore the typical obstacles of benchmarking. The article discusses a case study on internal benchmarking efforts during the integration of a privatized Hungarian firm into a multinational company. Finally the authors give some general recommendations to promote the development of a supportive environment for benchmarking in Hungary.
