Desigualdad económica y pobreza en las personas mayores del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia: efectos de la seguridad social según condición étnica (2000-2021)

Abstract

En este estudio se analiza el impacto de la seguridad social en la pobreza y la desigualdad de la población mayor boliviana (2000-2021), considerando la etnicidad, mediante índices de Gini, curvas de Lorenz y regresiones logísticas con datos de encuestas de hogares. Se observa una reducción en la desigualdad de ingresos en personas de 60 años y más, con disminución de la brecha del índice de Gini entre indígenas y no indígenas. La Renta Dignidad redujo más la pobreza en la población no indígena. El acceso a la seguridad social disminuyó el riesgo de pobreza entre la población indígena, en la que la educación también tuvo mayor impacto. Los programas combinados son esenciales para mejorar la calidad de vida, aunque el efecto reductor de pobreza de la jubilación y los seguros de salud disminuyó entre 2000 y 2021. Las diferencias étnicas observadas en el impacto de la seguridad social subrayan la necesidad de políticas inclusivas y multisectoriales.
