Abstract

En este artículo se analiza cómo las encuestas de hogares han medido el desempleo, así como las representaciones sobre las relaciones de trabajo que se asocian a este procedimiento. Centrándose en la experiencia brasileña, el objetivo es examinar la intersección entre las posiciones del mercado de trabajo, las representaciones sociales y la estratificación del mercado de trabajo. Para ello, es relevante investigar tanto las prácticas de clasificación como las tendencias del mercado laboral, así como los límites entre desempleo, trabajo e inactividad. La historización de la medición del desempleo aborda la construcción normativa del desempleo a través de encuestas de hogares, mientras que los microdatos de diferentes bases de datos se utilizan para caracterizar las “áreas grises” dentro y fuera del mercado laboral brasileño.
