Notas de Población Vol. 50 N° 116

Abstract

El número 116 de Notas de Población tiene dos sellos muy especiales e íntimamente relacionados entre sí. Por un lado, damos continuidad al merecido homenaje que la revista y el Centro Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Demografía (CELADE)-División de Población de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL) rinden a la fundadora y primera directora de la publicación, Carmen Miró, con ocasión de su sensible fallecimiento el 18 de septiembre de 2022. Lo hacemos por medio de unas breves notas en el marco de los 50 años de Notas de Población, junto con sentidas palabras sobre Carmen y su legado de tres connotados demógrafos de la región: Dídimo Castillo Fernández, Silvia Elena Giorguli y Laura Rodríguez Wong. Por otro lado, muy en sintonía con lo anterior, como se mencionó, este 2023 tenemos el privilegio y la satisfacción de celebrar 50 años desde la fundación de la revista en 1973, precisamente por iniciativa de Carmen Miró, directora del CELADE en ese momento. Por este motivo, los números 116 y 117 de la revista darán continuidad a esta celebración, con el lema “Medio siglo difundiendo conocimiento demográfico”.
