Femicidios en la Argentina en el período 2002-2018: ¿fenómeno en alza o visibilización de un antiguo problema?

Abstract

La Argentina, al igual que la mayoría de los países de la región, carece de estadísticas oficiales sobre femicidios que habiliten el abordaje cabal de esta problemática. En los últimos años se ha avanzado en esta materia a partir de la creación de un registro nacional de los femicidios incorporados en las causas judiciales, así como en la mejora de la calidad de los datos de los homicidios dolosos de mujeres. Sin embargo, estos sistemas cuentan con series inferiores a seis años, solo poseen tasas de femicidios según provincia y un reducido conjunto de variables sociodemográficas. El objetivo de este trabajo es brindar una caracterización detallada de los femicidios en la Argentina en el período comprendido entre 2002 y 2018. Se presentan valores absolutos y el cálculo de tasas específicas de los mismos para conocer —por un lado— la magnitud y las tendencias de los hechos y —por otro— las singularidades de las víctimas.
