Prácticas y paradojas frente al COVID-19 en sectores populares de la Ciudad de México

Abstract

En este trabajo se analizan las prácticas sociales que una muestra de residentes en colonias populares de bajos ingresos de la Ciudad de México han aplicado para afrontar la pandemia de enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-19). Los resultados muestran la persistencia de tres paradojas en la gestión de la amenaza viral. Por un lado, se observa una contradicción entre la adopción de prácticas de cuidado y la disponibilidad de recursos para afrontar las necesidades diarias en el escenario actual. Por otro, se constata una relativización del riesgo debido a que las preocupaciones económicas han adquirido una centralidad mayor que las referidas a la salud. Finalmente, se destaca la apropiación diferenciada de información, donde la claridad y el conocimiento sobre los hábitos preventivos, y la práctica de estos, contrastan con el desconocimiento prevalente sobre cómo actuar en caso de contraer COVID-19.
