Impacto del mercado laboral en la tasa de suicidio en Colombia, 2010-2018: aproximación desde un modelo multinivel

Abstract

En el presente artículo se examina la relación existente entre el mercado laboral y la tasa de suicidio en 24 departamentos de Colombia, para lo que se aborda el problema a partir de dos fases: la fase exploratoria, en la que se caracteriza a nivel espacial el fenómeno del suicidio y el desempleo entre 2010 y 2018; y la fase que modela el fenómeno a partir de estructuras panel y estructuras multinivel. Los resultados parecen indicar la existencia de una disparidad en el comportamiento departamental del suicidio. La inclusión de las tasas de desempleo, y de su duración promedio, como regresores del segundo nivel explican el 50% de la variabilidad del fenómeno a nivel departamental. La inclusión de la pobreza monetaria y la escolaridad promedio no presentan efectos significativos en el comportamiento del suicidio a nivel departamental.
