Comportamiento reproductivo y anticonceptivo de dos cohortes de mujeres de una región de frontera agrícola en la Amazonia brasileña

Abstract

En este artículo se analizan las estrategias que subyacen al comportamiento reproductivo y anticonceptivo de dos cohortes de mujeres en las etapas de evolución y consolidación de una región de frontera agrícola en la Amazonia brasileña, entre 1986 y 2015. Se trata de un estudio cualitativo basado en entrevistas a 60 mujeres que vivieron su período reproductivo en las etapas iniciales o más avanzadas de la frontera, en el municipio de Machadinho d’Oeste (Rondônia, norte del Brasil). Los resultados muestran que esas estrategias se diferencian según las características socioeconómicas, la falta de servicios de salud sexual y reproductiva y las aspiraciones individuales de cada cohorte. A pesar de las diferencias entre las cohortes, la unión o matrimonio y la maternidad son precoces, hay una proporción relativamente alta de embarazos que se producen debido a la falla de los métodos anticonceptivos y altos niveles de ligadura de las trompas de Falopio en los dos perfiles analizados.
