América Latina: la medición de la discapacidad a partir de los censos y fuentes alternativas

Abstract

El presente documento tiene por objeto discutir ciertos aspectos que se consideran relevantes en la medición de la discapacidad en las personas y avanzar en la adopción de una definición más homogénea y comparable entre los países de la región, con un enfoque más orientado a políticas públicas que a una simple descripción del fenómeno. En este contexto, la información debe servir para identificar la prevalencia de la discapacidad en la población, analizar las características demográficas y socioeconómicas de las personas con discapacidad e identificar sus demandas de salud y sociales.
